Introducing Ken Wilsbach, our new Technical Director.

Garfield is excited to welcome Ken Wilsbach to the team. As our Technical Director, Ken will be responsible for leading our web development efforts across a variety of digital projects.

Prior to coming on board full time, Ken had been doing freelance work for Garfield starting in April 2016, helping to rebuild Kennedy Health’s website from the ground up. “They were moving to Drupal from Joomla, so we had to create the new site from scratch,” says Ken. For a regional health system comprising multiple hospitals, a variety of wellness programs, and more than 900 physicians, this was no small feat — and Ken proved an invaluable member of the team.

So when Garfield set out to hire a technical director to help handle its burgeoning development project load, Ken was a natural choice. “The timing was perfect for me,” says Ken, “because my son was about to start kindergarten, and I was itching to put down roots with an agency.” While he’d enjoyed working from home as an entrepreneur — he named his consultancy Bug Eyed LLC, he says, because “insect eyes are often multifaceted, much like the work of development” — agency life gives him more time to focus on his craft, rather than the hustle of freelancing.

His love of nature goes beyond entomology-inspired business names, however. When he’s not building websites, Ken raises chickens, and also enjoys aquascaping. For the uninitiated, that’s the art of growing elaborate gardens inside of an aquarium. “I have a six-foot tank in my basement,” Ken says. “I’d like to create a smaller version here in my office at Garfield.”

Ken brings nearly a decade of professional experience to Garfield, having helped develop sites for brands like Nutrisystem, Campbell’s Soup, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Toys “R” Us, Levi’s, and Dockers. Before officially embarking on his career path, though, Ken had already racked up years of experience. “I started tinkering with HTML and JavaScript as a teenager, back in the days of Geocities,” he says. “My mom is a graphic designer, and I would often help her build out websites for her clients.”

We’re thrilled to call Ken a fully-fledged, full-time member of the Garfield family. With his talent and experience, we can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish for our clients.
