Feel the Warmth — Our 25th Anniversary Holiday Program
Social responsibility has always been an important part of our culture, so every holiday season we choose a cause we believe in and dedicate ourselves to giving back and making a difference in our community. In years past, we’ve supported Habitat for Humanity, A Woman’s Place, Philadelphia Reads, Heifer International… the list goes on.
This year’s cause: helping to keep kids warm this winter through the donation of new or gently-used winter coats. We partnered with Feel the Warmth, a nonprofit created to provide less fortunate children in the Philadelphia area with school supplies, uniforms, new or gently-used winter coats, children’s books, and toys.
But this year was special. It’s our 25th anniversary - a time to not only give back but also to mark the milestone by thanking those who have helped us reach it: our clients, partners and alumni. So, rather than simply doing a coat drive on our own, we decided to activate everyone we work with along with proud past Garfielders to launch a massive donation drive that would blow the minds of the folks at Feel the Warmth.
Even though the holidays were upon us, four of our clients - Opportunity Finance Network, Edison Partners, Hamilton Building Supply and Turnberry Solutions, Inc. - all signed up to host their own coat drives for Feel the Warmth. We developed a heartfelt creative campaign titled “The Lonely Coats” which explained how every coat needs a child to keep warm during the cold winter months. We promoted our program through a special storybook landing page and through Garfield, client, and Feel the Warmth social media channels.
In the spirit of holidays past, we also participated in a day of service. This year, we worked with The Salvation Army in Trenton, NJ, acting as Santa’s Helpers to aid parents and grandparents in “shopping” at the organization’s donated toy and clothing shop so they could bring home gifts, goodies, and new clothes for the kids.
Of course, what’s an anniversary without a party? We hosted a holiday and anniversary bash at The Great American Pub in Conshohocken to honor our clients, partners and alumni, and to tie in the holiday efforts, we asked each attendee to bring a coat. It was a wonderful event filled with friends, family and great memories.
On January 7th, we welcomed Janet Shepps from Feel the Warmth to our offices to pick up what turned out to be the largest donation made this year - more than 100 coats, more than 65 coat weather items, and over $700 raised for the cause. Overall, it was a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays and a great way to mark the beginning of our 26th year. Thank you to all of you who have made it a wonderful ride - and here’s to the next 25!
